Position Title: Machine & Building Maintenance Technician
Salary: $62,400-$72,800 per hour
Shift: 1st
Hours: 6:00am-2:30pm (Mon-Fri)
QPS Employment Group has a great Machine & Building Maintenance Technician position available at a company in Saint Charles, MO. This position is an excellent opportunity for an experienced maintenance professional who enjoys solving mechanical problems, working with a variety of equipment, and directly contributing to safe and efficient plant operations. This is a 1st shift, direct hire position.
Machine & Building Maintenance Technician Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Diagnose mechanical problems and repair plant machinery, production equipment, tooling, and facility systems.
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance to reduce equipment downtime and support reliable production operations.
- Read and interpret schematic diagrams, blueprints, equipment manuals, and manufacturer specifications.
- Inspect machinery and equipment to identify worn, damaged, or malfunctioning components.
- Repair or replace mechanical components, including motors, bearings, belts, chains, gears, pumps, and related parts.
- Maintain machine tooling, hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment in safe and proper working condition.
- Use precision measuring equipment and testing instruments to diagnose equipment issues and verify completed repairs.
- Respond to equipment breakdowns and work efficiently to restore machinery to safe operating condition.
- Perform adjustments, alignments, installations, and changeovers on plant machinery and equipment.
- Complete repairs and maintenance on the physical structure of the facility, including basic building and facility systems.
- Document preventive maintenance, inspections, repairs, parts used, and equipment conditions accurately.
- Communicate equipment concerns, repair status, and potential safety or production issues to the appropriate supervisor.
- Maintain an organized work area and properly store tools, replacement parts, and maintenance supplies.
- Follow all safety procedures, lockout/tagout requirements, equipment-specific instructions, and company policies.
- Support equipment installations, facility improvement projects, and maintenance activities that fall within the scope of the position.
Machine & Building Maintenance Technician Requirements:
- Two-year certificate or associate degree in industrial maintenance, mechanical technology, or a related field from an accredited college or trade school.
- Three or more years of related industrial or manufacturing maintenance experience is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated mechanical troubleshooting and equipment repair skills.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, operating manuals, and manufacturer specifications.
- Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, machine tooling, precision measuring equipment, and testing instruments.
- Basic knowledge of preventive maintenance practices and industrial equipment.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize repairs, and respond effectively to equipment breakdowns.
- Strong attention to safety, quality, and detail.
- Ability to communicate effectively with production employees, supervisors, and other maintenance personnel.
- Dependable attendance and punctuality are required.
- Stand and walk for up to eight hours or more during a shift, with limited breaks.
- Frequently bend, stoop, twist, reach, crouch, and work in awkward positions.
- Frequently use hands and fingers to handle tools, equipment, parts, and controls.
- Frequently perform tasks requiring manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
- Occasionally lift and carry materials, tools, or parts weighing up to 60 pounds.
- Occasionally push or pull equipment, tools, and materials weighing up to 60 pounds.
- Occasionally work overhead or with arms extended for periods of time.
- Climb steps and approved work platforms as required to access equipment.
- Perform visual inspections requiring close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception.
- Work in areas with changing or extreme temperatures.
- Tolerate exposure to noise, dust, grease, oils, and other conditions commonly found in a manufacturing environment.
