The Employee Relations Investigator is responsible for conducting prompt, thorough, and impartial investigations involving allegations of employee misconduct, workplace harassment, discrimination, retaliation, policy violations, and other employee relations matters. This position serves as a trusted advisor to leaders and employees by ensuring investigations are conducted in a fair, legally compliant, and consistent manner while supporting a respectful and productive work environment.
The Employee Relations Investigator works closely with Human Resources, Employee and Labor Relations, Academic Superintendents, principals, and operational managers and leaders to assess concerns, gather facts, and prepare investigative findings.

Salary Range: $90,000 - 100,000 (260 days)

Conducts complex workplace investigations involving allegations of misconduct, harassment, discrimination, retaliation, bullying, workplace violence, ethics concerns, and policy violations.

Plans and leads investigative interviews with complainants, respondents, witnesses, and other relevant parties.

Gathers, reviews, and analyzes evidence including documents, emails, personnel records, video footage, time records, and other relevant information.

Prepares clear, comprehensive, and well-supported investigative reports that summarize facts, findings, credibility assessments, and conclusions.

Maintains detailed and accurate case files and documentation in accordance with legal and organizational requirements.

Identifies trends and systemic issues arising from investigations and recommend proactive solutions.

Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, union protocols, employee handbook, board policies, and administrative procedures.

Participates in grievance reviews, administrative hearings, unemployment hearings, and other employment-related proceedings as assigned.

Assists with the development and delivery of training related to workplace conduct, harassment prevention, respectful workplace expectations, and investigative best practices.

Maintains strict confidentiality and exercise sound judgment in handling sensitive employee matters.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, Business Administration, Public Administration, Criminal Justice, Law, or a related field.

Minimum of three (3) years of experience conducting workplace investigations, employee relations investigations, compliance investigations, labor relations investigations, or similar investigative work.
Preferred Qualifications

Juris Doctor (JD) preferred but not required.

Five (5) or more years of experience conducting complex workplace investigations.

Experience in a unionized environment.

Experience working within a public-sector, K-12, higher education, governmental, or large complex organization.
