PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Campus Social Worker, under general direction of the Campus Principal, will identify and assist students, families, teachers and faculty in overcoming barriers that interfere with learning using a trauma-informed, strengths-based approach to assess, counsel and coordinate school and community resources.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:

Bachelor’s Degree/Social Work

Master’s degree in social work (preferred), Sociology, Psychology or Related Field

Valid Texas License as a Master Social Worker (LMSW) or Licensed

Clinical Social Work (LCSW) (preferred)

Ability to communicate clearly and effectively via oral and written means. Ability to present a friendly and positive demeanor to clients, staff, supportive services personnel, funders, and the general public. Ability to make oral presentations.

Ability to remain calm and maintain self-control in the midst of difficult circumstances and emergencies. Ability to respond in a professional manner in all situations.

Working knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Ability to think analytically and evaluate the impact of organization decisions. Ability to set work priorities and to evaluate and create solutions to work related problems.

Ability to provide budget input to campus administration.

Ability to negotiate students down from stressful situations, potential threatening behaviors. Ability to persuade students to make appropriate life decisions.

Knowledge of case management services; City and County community resources, and disability benefits.
Experience:
-
3+ years’ experience in a social service agency, 3+ years in customer service focused environment. 1+ years management experience. Experience with mental health is a plus. Must have experience working with individuals in crisis and crisis planning.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Social Work
1. Conduct group counseling/psychoeducation to encourage peer support and enhance social development of students.
2. Provide casework services with parents to increase the parents’ understanding and constructive participation in resolving their child’s problems and their knowledge and use of available and appropriate resources.
3. Act as a liaison with community agencies to ensure continuity of services.
4. Facilitate crisis response and provide follow up crisis counseling and referrals to appropriate providers.
5. Ensure that students and their families are provided services within the context of multicultural understanding and competence.
6. Empower students and families to gain access to and effectively utilize school and community resources. Engage with parents to promote parental involvement via PTA and parent volunteer opportunities.
7. Organize events within the school and community to promote pro-social development and awareness.
Assessment
8. Utilize data in assessing needs of, planning interventions for individual students, groups, and/or whole school population.
9. Conduct assessments of individuals and families with the goals of improving student social, emotional, behavioral, and academic outcomes.
10. Complete assessments of campus needs to prioritize service delivery.
11. Participate in the Admission, Review and Dismissal (ARD) Committee to assist in, appropriate placement and goal setting for students according to district procedures.
Consultation
12. Provide consultation of school personnel, parents/guardians, and community partners for the purpose of enhancing their understanding of students needs, developing effective interventions and building school capacity.
13. Engage with the larger community to build and establish relationships with community partner and to increase community awareness of school and enrollment.
14. Serve as a consultant to school personnel regarding students or situations that are not referred for district or outside services
15. Contribute to the planning and implementation of parent involvement activities. Develop and conduct parenting training and support groups.
16. Develop and maintain effective individual and group relationships with students, families, teachers, and faculty.
Program Management
17. Provide on-going program evaluation, data tracking and reporting to provide recommendations to the campus leadership for continuous growth, quality, and mandated requirements. Collaborate on grant applications.
18. Comply with policies established by federal and state laws, State Board of Education rule and board policy. Comply with all district and campus routines and regulations.
19. Serve as a field instructor for graduate and undergraduate interns (if applicable). Provide on-going supervision to ensure all interactions, classes and activities align with the trauma-informed, strengths-based program design.
20. Document weekly and emergency case notes, maintain comprehensive files, and prepare necessary incident reports, as necessary.
