Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Tractor Trailer Repair Technician. The ideal candidate will possess extensive mechanical and electrical knowledge, with experience working on over the road trucks and trailers. This role requires a proactive approach to diagnostics, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance to ensure optimal equipment performance and safety across multiple job sites.
We also provide afterhours emergency repairs, so the applicant would go on calls for a week every 4 weeks. Pay would be overtime and double time depending on the time.
Duties
- Perform diagnostics and repairs on medium and heavy duty vehicles.
- Conduct routine maintenance such as oil changes, transmission repairs, hydraulic system servicing, brake repairs, tire service, and suspension adjustments.
- Fabricate parts or components as needed for repairs or custom modifications using welding, soldering, and hand tools.
- Troubleshoot electrical systems including wiring, sensors, and control modules; perform electrical diagnostics and repairs.
- Repair diesel engines.
- Use power tools and specialized equipment to disassemble, repair, or assemble components.
- Maintain detailed service records of all repairs performed; interpret schematics and technical manuals for accurate troubleshooting.
- Ensure all work complies with safety standards such as air brake systems and proper safety procedures.
- Assist with heavy lifting tasks using appropriate equipment; operate heavy machinery when required for testing or repositioning repaired units.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating repair status clearly and ensuring client satisfaction.
Experience
- Dealership experience highly preferred with a strong background in automotive diagnostics and vehicle maintenance.
- Proven experience repairing over the road trucks and trailers.
- Skilled in fabrication techniques including welding.
- Knowledge of air brake, HVAC, transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, electrical systems, and diesel engines.
- Experience working with schematics to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues.
- Hands-on experience with power tools, hand tools, tire service, HVAC systems in industrial settings, and heavy lifting operations.
- Previous service technician or mechanical experience in a truck shop environment is highly desirable.
