Job Description:
Under limited supervision, the employee is responsible for performing functions within the shipping and receiving departments. This includes, but is not limited to, shipping test samples, sampling supplies, and some laboratory equipment, performing related shipping duties, and maintaining appropriate documentation.
Qualifications:
- Follows all department/laboratory work instructions, including maintaining current training logs and completed competency evaluations.
- Follows all company safety requirements, policies, and related documentation.
- Cleans and maintains sampling containers, glassware, test supplies, and equipment as required.
- Organizes, cleans, and promptly returns any client-owned sampling supplies.
- Takes sampling supply orders from clients in a professional manner and ships promptly.
- Packages and ships test samples and sampling equipment accurately and promptly.
- Maintains the shipping database with current client information, including shipping charges.
- Maintains inventory and tracking of Weidmann sampling equipment.
- Disposes of related hazardous materials.
- Assists office personnel with laboratory-related projects, supports other departments as needed, and participates in special projects as required.
- Performs other duties as deemed appropriate by laboratory management.
- Strong interpersonal skills – requires being pleasant with others on the job and displaying a good-natured, cooperative attitude. Ability to meet demanding deadlines while maintaining attention to detail while completing tasks. Must be willing to take on added responsibilities and challenges to grow within the role.
- Must be able to communicate with customers, vendors, guests, etc. Experience displaying patience and a courteous, professional manner during all interactions.
- A high school diploma, GED, or equivalent. Some previous work experience with customer service responsibilities and data entry requirements is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of computer applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, and database management.
