**PENDING CONTRACT AWARD**
The Engineering Technician III at the Potomac River Test Range (PRTR) performs data acquisition and
analysis work in support of all testing conducted. The work requires the ability to learn and apply
established methods, procedures, and techniques.
Duties and Responsibilities
Supports Data Acquisition and Analysis in Weapons Systems and Munitions Testing
Works independently to perform assignments that are not completely standardized or prescribed
Selects or adapts standard procedures or equipment, using fully applicable precedents
Receives initial instructions, equipment requirements, and advice from supervisor or engineer as needed; performs recurring work independently; work is reviewed for technical adequacy or conformity with instructions
Constructs components, subunits, or simple models or adapts standard equipment
Troubleshoots and corrects malfunctions
Follows specific layout and scientific diagrams to construct and package simple devices and subunits of equipment
Supports various tests or experiments which may require minor modifications in test setups or procedures as well as subjective judgments in measurement; selects, sets up, and operates standard test equipment and records test data
Extracts and compiles a variety of engineering data from field notes, manuals, lab reports, etc.; processes data, identifying errors or inconsistencies; selects methods of data presentation
Assists in design modification by compiling data related to design, specifications, and materials which are pertinent to specific items of equipment or component parts
Develops information concerning previous operational failures and modifications
Uses judgment and initiative to recognize inconsistencies or gaps in data and seek sources to clarify information
Demonstrates a knowledge of, and skill in applying, standardized rules, procedures, or operations requiring considerable training and experience in engineering methods and practices acquired through classroom or on-the-job training in the field
Computes findings from test firing data on small ammunition to determine the center of impact, frequency distribution, standard deviation and probable error
Takes test readings and record findings
Performs basic mathematics using standard formulas
Conducts basic field observations and obtain, identify, handle, and store material sample
Assists higher-graded technicians by preparing graphs, charts, diagrams, and visual presentations
Performs other duties as assigned
