Sandison Plumbing, Heating, Cooling, and Electrical is seeking an experienced Michigan Licensed Journeyman Plumber to join our growing service team.
We are a third-generation family-owned company serving homeowners and businesses throughout Southeast Michigan. This position is for a dependable plumbing professional who can diagnose problems, perform high-quality repairs and installations, communicate clearly with customers, document work completely, and take ownership of each job from arrival through final closeout.
What You Will Do
- Diagnose residential and light-commercial plumbing problems.
- Perform plumbing repairs, maintenance, replacements, and installations.
- Work on water distribution, drainage, waste, venting, gas piping, fixtures, valves, pumps, water heaters, tankless water heaters, and related systems.
- Identify leaks, pressure problems, drainage concerns, failed components, improper installations, and plumbing-code deficiencies.
- Present customers with responsible repair and replacement options.
- Clearly explain findings, pricing, limitations, warranties, and recommended next steps.
- Complete approved work according to code, manufacturer requirements, and company standards.
- Test completed work and verify proper operation before leaving the job.
- Protect customer property and maintain a clean, organized work area.
- Communicate job progress, delays, parts needs, and return-trip requirements to dispatch.
- Complete accurate job notes, estimates, photographs, approvals, and payment documentation in Housecall Pro.
- Assist with training apprentices and less-experienced technicians when assigned.
- Participate in approved emergency and after-hours work when scheduled.

Required Qualifications
- Current State of Michigan Journey Plumber license.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
- Plumbing service, repair, and installation experience.
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
- Working knowledge of Michigan plumbing codes and safe work practices.
- Ability to communicate professionally with customers and coworkers.
- Ability to prepare clear written job notes and documentation.
- Comfortable using a smartphone, tablet, photographs, text messaging, and field-service software.
- Ability to work independently while following company procedures.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Professional appearance and conduct.
- Honest, accountable, safety-conscious, and team-oriented.
Preferred Qualifications
- Five or more years of plumbing field experience.
- Residential service and replacement experience.
- Commercial plumbing experience.
- Water heater and tankless water heater experience.
- Drain, sewer, water-service, gas-piping, or backflow experience.
- Experience with Housecall Pro or similar software.
- Experience training or supervising apprentices.
- Interest in obtaining a Michigan Master Plumber license.
- Additional backflow, medical-gas, or related certifications.
Safety Expectations
Every employee has the authority and responsibility to stop work when conditions may create a serious danger.
You will be expected to:
- Use required PPE.
- Follow utility-isolation and lockout/tagout procedures.
- Report hazards, injuries, exposures, vehicle incidents, and property damage immediately.
- Stop and request assistance when work is outside your training, licensing, equipment, or authorization.
- Follow company procedures for sewage, wastewater, confined spaces, attics, crawlspaces, chemicals, gas, electrical hazards, and unknown materials.
- Never bypass a safety device or perform unsafe work to save time.
Schedule
The normal schedule is generally Monday through Friday during regular business hours.
The position may also include:
- Approved overtime.
- Emergency service.
- Scheduled after-hours or on-call work.
- Occasional weekends.
- Company meetings and training.
All working time must be accurately recorded. Employees are expected to communicate with dispatch before creating overtime whenever safely practical.

Physical Requirements
This position may require regularly standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing, reaching, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling plumbing materials and equipment.
Work may take place in basements, crawlspaces, attics, mechanical rooms, rooftops, utility areas, occupied homes, commercial buildings, and outdoor environments.
