The RN Supervisor oversees the nursing staff and overall patient care. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality care in accordance with federal, state, and facility regulations and policies. The supervisor provides leadership, clinical oversight, and decision-making support, and serves as the point of contact for staff, residents, and families during the night shift.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise nursing staff (RNs, LPNs, CNAs), ensuring appropriate staffing, patient care, and regulatory compliance.
- Conduct walking rounds to monitor resident conditions, staff performance, and unit needs.
- Address and resolve clinical issues, emergencies, and resident or family concerns during the shift.
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation in clinical records.
- Review 24-hour reports, update care plans as needed, and communicate relevant information to incoming shifts and leadership.
- Monitor medication administration, treatments, and adherence to infection control protocols.
- Provide hands-on clinical care as needed, including assessments, interventions, and supervision of critical cases.
- Participate in staff education and coaching; provide feedback to improve performance.
- Report incidents, accidents, or changes in resident condition to appropriate leadership and document per policy.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, facility policies, and applicable state and federal regulations.
Qualifications:
- Current RN license in NY.
- Experience in Nursing in long-term care, subacute, or acute care setting (supervisory experience preferred).
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of electronic medical record systems preferred.
