As a BUYER, you will be expected to implement programs and initiatives to ensure stock levels are appropriate and in proportion with sales demand and forecasting. You will also be expected to work with vendors to maintain packaging requirements, quality standards and the changing demands within the workplace
- Implement and maintain a system that will ensure stock levels are maintained on items purchased
- Research potential suppliers and products to meet the organization's needs
- Negotiate contracts with vendors to get the best prices and terms
- Build and maintain relationships with vendors to ensure a reliable supply of materials
- Prepare purchase orders and maintain procurement records
- Analyze market trends, supplier performance, and cost structures
- Provide documentation to justify procurement
- Excellent organizational, negotiation and communication skills
- Knowledge of market research and data analysis
- Understanding of purchasing best practices
- Knowledge of the products being purchased
- Ability to analyze supplier performance and cost structures
- Ability to check the quality of items
- Working knowledge of purchasing software
