Service Advisor
Bob’s Auto Repair | Hawthorne, CA
$75,000 to $95,000 per year, depending on experience
Bob’s Auto Repair has been part of Hawthorne since 1987, and right now, the shop is in one of the most exciting chapters of its history.
After nearly four decades in business, Bob’s is being thoughtfully rebuilt for the next generation. The loyal customer base is already here. The name is already known. The team is already experienced. Now the shop is adding better systems, clearer processes, digital inspections, stronger communication, and a bigger vision for what this place can become.
We are looking for an experienced Service Advisor who wants to be part of that growth.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys helping build structure, improve communication, support technicians, serve customers well, and be part of a shop that is actively moving forward.
Bob’s Auto Repair is a general repair shop with 8 bays, 4 technicians, a loyal customer base, and room to grow. The shop uses Tekmetric and digital vehicle inspections, and the goal is to keep improving how work flows through the shop from the first phone call to the final pickup.
The right person for this role will be steady, organized, and strong with follow-through. You should know how to communicate with customers in a way that builds trust, especially when the conversation is difficult. You should be able to explain repairs without talking down to people, advocate for the customer, support the technicians, and help the shop operate with more clarity and consistency.
You do not need to have everything figured out on day one, but you do need to be experienced, coachable, action-oriented, and willing to help refine processes as the shop continues to grow.
What You’ll Be Doing
As a Service Advisor at Bob’s Auto Repair, you will be one of the most important connections between the customer, the technicians, and the shop.
You’ll spend your days greeting customers, answering phones, building repair orders, communicating inspection results, presenting recommended repairs, scheduling work, keeping customers updated, and helping make sure nothing falls through the cracks.
You’ll work closely with the technicians and the owner to keep the day moving, especially during busy mornings and more complex repair situations. This is a shop where communication matters, details matter, and follow-through matters.
This role will also be part of helping strengthen the shop’s systems and processes. If you are the type of advisor who notices where things could be better and is willing to speak up with solutions, you will be valued here.
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for an experienced Service Advisor who brings strong communication, attention to detail, and the ability to stay calm and professional with both customers and the team.
You may be a great fit if you:
- Have prior Service Advisor experience in an automotive repair shop
- Have experience with Tekmetric or another shop management system
- Understand how to build trust with customers
- Can explain repairs clearly without making customers feel overwhelmed or talked down to
- Follow through on customer updates, technician questions, estimates, and open items
- Know how to handle difficult conversations with professionalism
- Are comfortable working in a shop that is improving, growing, and building new processes
- Can work well with technicians and help keep communication moving both ways
- Take feedback well and use it to get better
- Care about doing the job right, not just getting through the day
Bilingual English and Spanish would be a plus, but it is not required.
What Makes This Opportunity Different
Bob’s Auto Repair is established, but it is not stuck.
The shop has a long history, a loyal customer base, and a strong foundation. At the same time, the new ownership is bringing in modern systems, better processes, clearer expectations, and a growth mindset.
You will not be walking into a perfectly polished operation where every process has already been built for you. You will be joining a shop that is actively improving and wants the right people involved in that improvement.
The owner values employee feedback, honest communication, and giving capable people room to do their jobs. Mistakes are treated as opportunities to learn, improve the process, and move forward. Every employee has a voice in helping the shop get better.
This is a good fit for someone who wants to be trusted, challenged, heard, and involved.
