We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Insurance Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in managing insurance. This position requires a strong understanding of medical terminology and experience in a medical office setting. The Insurance Specialist will be responsible for verifying insurance coverage, authorizations and referrals.
Duties
- Verify patient insurance coverage and benefits prior to services rendered.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of managed care policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations regarding patient confidentiality and record management.
- Assist in coding medical records using ICD-9 and ICD-10 standards.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to obtain necessary documentation for claims processing.
- Maintain organized records of all insurance transactions and communications.
Skills
- Proficiency in medical terminology related to both medical practices.
- Experience working in a medical office office environment is preferred.
- Familiarity with managed care systems and processes.
- Strong understanding of medical coding, particularly ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding systems.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy is upheld.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail for accurate record keeping.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients, providers, and insurance companies.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
