Position Summary:
The Line Cook is responsible for preparing, cooking, and presenting food in accordance with established restaurant recipes and quality standards. The role ensures that food is prepared and presented in a timely, safe, and efficient manner. The Line Cook performs essential job functions that support the preparation, cooking, and presentation of food while maintaining a clean, organized kitchen while collaborating with the kitchen team to deliver high-quality meals.
Essential Job Functions:
- Prepare, cook, and plate menu items according to company recipes and quality standards.
- Safely operate commercial kitchen equipment including grills, fryers, ovens, stovetops, and other equipment.
- Maintain food safety, sanitation, and health department standards at all times.
- Set up, stock, and maintain assigned workstations before, during, and after service.
- Maintain quality while working efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Communicate effectively with kitchen and front-of-house team members.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Regular, reliable attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this position.
- Work flexible schedules, including early mornings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as business needs require, including opening, closing, and cleaning responsibilities.
Other Duties:
- Assist with inventory, stock rotation, labeling, and dating product.
- Perform cleaning and sanitation duties.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and recipes.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to obtain required food handler certifications where required by law.
Work Environment:
The work environment includes exposure to high temperatures, open flames, hot cooking equipment, steam, sharp utensils, wet or slippery floors, cleaning chemicals, and moderate to high noise levels. This position is performed in a fast-paced restaurant environment and requires prolonged standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, and repetitive hand movements while maintaining food safety, sanitation, and quality standards.
Physical Essential Functions:
- Stand and walk for up to 8 hours per shift.
- Frequently bend, reach, twist, stoop, and grasp.
- Frequently lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Perform repetitive hand and arm movements.
- Safely tolerate hot and humid kitchen environments.
