Job Description
PSYCHOLOGIST
Summary
Provides psychological therapy and counseling services to school students, as well as
support to our families within the school community. Functions as a member on an
interdisciplinary team and supports staff and administration.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides direct psychotherapy and/or counseling to students currently enrolled in
school, as well as to alumni who contract with Frostig via Frostig Beyond.
- Provides psychological support to staff, administration, and families of Frostig
students.
- Allowing for cancellations, missed appointments, holidays, etc., completes a
minimum of 95% of scheduled caseload hours.
- Attends Clinical Department meetings, as well as TEAM meetings scheduled by
the school administration.
- Functions as an active member of an interdisciplinary team. Attends required
team meetings. Consults with Frostig staff members as needed regarding direct
services.
- Communicates with parents of students. Attends parent conferences when
requested by staff and/or administration.
- Attends IEP meetings and Private Cycle meetings for students assigned to
his/her caseload.
- Maintains clinical and attendance records. This Includes session notes, progress
reports, IEP/Private Cycles goals and objectives, and other reports as necessary.
- Responsible for conducting Risk and Threat assessments when requested by
staff, administration, or parents.
- Psychologists are mandated reporters and should follow all the pertinent
protocols for reporting as needed.
- Forwards in a timely manner accurate attendance records for students in their
caseload to the Finance Department billing.
- Conducts parent interviews as assigned and/or needed.
Credentials, Certificates, Licenses
Must have and maintain in good standing either a valid California license as a
Psychologist, Social Worker (LMSW), Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT), or a
Pupil Personnel Services Credential (PPS)in Counseling and/or in School
Psychology.
Qualifications
- Master Degree, PhD, or Psy.
- Experience counseling school age children, or families and young
adults.
- Experience working as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
- Working knowledge of learning differences, IEP process, treatment
plans, and goals.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, comprehend, and interpret documents such as professional
journals, policies and procedure manuals. Ability to write reports and business
correspondence. Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate
effectively in a team environment as well with parents and other professionals
within and outside the Center.
COMPUTER SKILLS
Working knowledge of the Google Suite and Microsoft Office. Ability to
effectively use the internet for research and communication.
