Turn Beautiful Possibilities Into Beautiful Rooms
If you love beautiful interiors, understand custom window treatments, and genuinely enjoy helping people make decisions about their homes, this may be the kind of design role you've been looking for.
Our Fountain Valley showroom offers an extraordinary world of fabric, custom window treatments, furniture and design possibilities. We're looking for a Design Consultant who can help clients make sense of those possibilities and turn them into rooms they love.
This isn't simply a showroom sales position, and it isn't exclusively an in-home design role. You'll work with clients in our showroom and in their homes, guiding them from first conversation through design decisions and purchase.
Some clients will know exactly what they want. Others won't know where to begin. You'll also work with design professionals who expect a knowledgeable partner. Being able to meet each of them where they are is an important part of this role.

The Experience You'll Create
Great design can be exciting. It can also be overwhelming.
You'll ask thoughtful questions, listen carefully and help clients move from seemingly endless possibilities to a clear design direction. You'll know when to explore, when to narrow the choices, and when it's time to confidently make a recommendation.
The goal isn't simply to sell fabric, window coverings or furniture. It's to create an experience in which clients feel understood, well guided and confident in the decisions they're making for their homes.

What You'll Do
You'll work across our Fountain Valley showroom and clients' homes to:
- Welcome walk-in clients and conduct scheduled in-store design consultations.
- Understand each client's style, functional needs, priorities and investment considerations.
- Help clients navigate fabrics, custom window treatments, furniture and other design possibilities.
- Recognize when a showroom conversation should continue in the client's home.
- Conduct in-home consultations, considering the room as a whole and developing recommendations appropriate to the space.
- Design custom window treatments, including drapery, shades, blinds, hardware and layered treatments.
- Measure and consider fabrication and installation requirements as part of the design.
- Present thoughtful recommendations and proposals and comfortably discuss investment.
- Guide clients through choices and help them make decisions they feel confident about.
- Provide thoughtful follow-up and develop relationships that lead to future projects and referrals.
- Collaborate with store teammates, Project Coordination, workrooms and installers to help carry the design through completion.
A Partnership That Lets You Focus on the Client
You own the client relationship and design direction.
That means understanding what the client wants to accomplish, guiding the design, narrowing choices, making recommendations and helping move the project to a confident yes.
Your Project Coordinator helps manage the operational movement of the project—organizing details, coordinating with workrooms, vendors and installers, tracking progress and helping keep things moving.
You'll remain connected to the client while working together to carry the design direction through to completion.

Who We're Looking For
You don't need an interior design degree or a particular number of years attached to your résumé. You do need a foundation in custom window treatments, including drapery.
You don't need to know everything.
Your experience may not check every box below, and that's okay. We're interested in the combination of design instinct, window-treatment knowledge, client presence and curiosity you bring.
You'll likely thrive here if you:
- Have a keen sense of style and a good eye for color, pattern, texture, scale and proportion.
- Have some experience with custom window treatments, including drapery, and familiarity with shades, blinds, hardware and related products.
- Understand—or have experience with—the measuring, fabrication and installation considerations behind custom treatments.
- Connect easily with different kinds of people and enjoy learning about them and their homes.
- Can comfortably collaborate with an experienced interior designer while making a homeowner who's intimidated by design feel completely at ease.
- Know when to listen, when to ask another question and when to confidently make a recommendation.
- Are comfortable discussing investment and helping clients understand the value of custom design.
- Bring good judgment, problem-solving ability, follow-through and attention to detail.
- Enjoy working independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Are comfortable using technology and traveling locally to clients' homes.
In other words, you bring a sense of style and design without design ego.

What You'll Have Behind You
You'll be joining an established company with deep roots in the fabric and home-furnishings industry and access to an exceptional range of fabrics, products, vendors, workrooms and design resources. You’ll also have access to client leads generated through our showroom and marketing efforts, along with the opportunity to develop repeat and referral relationships of your own.
You'll be joining us at an exciting point in our growth as we build a design experience that connects what happens in our stores with what happens in our clients' homes.
We're looking for someone who wants to bring their expertise to that experience—and help us make it even better.
Because ultimately, we're not simply helping people purchase things for their homes. We're helping them create homes they love living in.
