Eastern Equipment Services
Eastern Equipment Services is a fast-growing supplier of industrial and hydraulic solutions, serving a wide range of municipal, commercial, and infrastructure clients. Known for our commitment to quality, responsiveness, and innovation, we are expanding rapidly and building a team of professionals who value integrity, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
About the Role
Eastern Equipment Services is seeking a mechanically inclined, detail-oriented individual to join our team in a hybrid counter sales and hose assembly role. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on technical work, learns quickly, and takes pride in getting the details right, whether that means correctly identifying a fitting, assembling a hose to spec, or helping a customer find the right part for their application.
We're looking for people with strong mechanical aptitude and a careful, methodical approach, we'll train the specifics. What matters most is that you can learn a technical system quickly, follow specifications precisely, and know when to slow down and double-check your work rather than guess.
Key Responsibilities
Technical / Assembly:
- Identify the correct hose and fitting components for a given application, using spec sheets and reference materials
- Assemble hoses using a crimp machine, following manufacturer and safety specifications
- Catch and flag inconsistencies (e.g., a mismatched part number or spec) rather than assuming and proceeding
- Maintain and restock inventory for retail and mobile sales, ensuring accurate documentation and inventory tracking
Customer-Facing / Sales:
- Greet and assist customers with product selection and inquiries, both in-person and by phone
- Recommend the right products for a customer's specific use case
- Create quotes and invoices, and process sales transactions accurately
- Build strong customer relationships to drive repeat business
- Collaborate with the sales, warehouse, and management teams to service customers effectively
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Mechanical aptitude & trainability (most important):
- Strong mechanical or spatial reasoning — comfortable working with specs, measurements, and physical components
- Demonstrated ability to learn new technical systems quickly and retain detailed information
- High attention to detail; someone who double-checks work against a spec rather than eyeballing it
- A safety-first mindset — willing to stop, verify, and ask questions when something doesn't look right
Experience & other skills:
- Mechanical or industrial experience preferred; hydraulic or hose/fitting background a plus, but not required
- Prior sales or customer service experience preferred
- Above-and-beyond communication and customer service skills
- Proficiency with computers/technology, including POS systems
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- High level of honesty, integrity, and accountability
- Comfortable in a warehouse/shop setting
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
Candidates may be asked to complete a brief hands-on assessment as part of the interview process, designed to evaluate mechanical aptitude and trainability.
