Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medication Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care to our residents, ensuring their medication needs are met with precision and empathy. This position requires a strong understanding of patient care, medical documentation, and the ability to work effectively with individuals in various care settings, including assisted living, nursing homes, and memory care facilities.
Duties
- Administer medications to residents as prescribed, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and best practices.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Monitor residents for side effects or adverse reactions to medications and report any concerns to the nursing staff.
- Assist with vital sign checks and other health assessments as needed.
- Provide support in daily living activities, including bathing, grooming and catheter care when required.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Utilize EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner for efficient patient management.
- Engage with residents in a compassionate manner, fostering a supportive environment for those with developmental disabilities, dementia, or Alzheimer’s disease.
Experience
- Previous experience in assisted living, nursing homes, or hospitals is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with caregiving practices in senior care settings, including hospice and memory care.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and vital signs is essential.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or developmental challenges is a plus.
- Proficiency in medical documentation and understanding of medication administration protocols is required.
