About the Job
The Support Manager is responsible for the overall management of a residential program for persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The manager's primary objective is to ensure that all clients have activities, environments, and people that enrich their lives. Support Managers have solid leadership skills and all the knowledge required to run the day-to-day operations of a group home.
Requirements
- Minimum: High School Diploma (or equivalent) with 1 year experience working with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities
- Preferred: Bachelor's degree with at least 1 year experience working with people with developmental disabilities, or high school diploma (or equivalent) with three years’ experience working with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities including at least 1 year supervisory experience
- Valid unrestricted driver's license with good driving record
- Basic Computer Literacy Required
- Ability to lift and transfer at least 50 pounds
- The ability to sit, stand, bend, squat, reach, be agile, physically pursue individuals on foot and stand for several hours at a time
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Must be able to read, write and verbally communicate in English and direct/respond to individual’s needs
Responsibilities
- Support individuals served in their personal growth and assist them in reaching their goals.
- Assist with activities of daily living, including dressing, bathing, and toileting when necessary.
- Ensure physical well-being of the individuals, administer medication, and ensure doctor's orders are followed.
- Safely operate agency vans and other vehicles as necessary.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable living environment for the individuals served.
- Ensure that the residential program meets all standards and criteria established by the agency and other applicable regulatory bodies.
- Ensure that all staff are aware of, understand, and adhere to all policies and regulations.
- Produce required documentation and reports completely, accurately, and on time.
- Communicate professionally and effectively with individuals served, families, caregivers, and staff.
- Be on-call 24/7/365 to provide support for emergency situations.
***If offered a position, you will be required to attend up to five (5) full days of paid mandatory training located at our Headquarters Office in Hamilton, New Jersey.
