Duties
As an A-Level Marine Technician, you'll be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide variety of boats and marine systems while serving as a technical resource within the service department.
Responsibilities include:
- Diagnose and repair complex mechanical, electrical, fuel, steering, cooling, and marine systems.
- Perform advanced troubleshooting using diagnostic software, service manuals, wiring diagrams, and specialized testing equipment.
- Complete repairs according to manufacturer specifications while maintaining the highest quality standards.
- Perform engine service, rigging, winterization, commissioning, and preventative maintenance.
- Identify additional repair or maintenance needs and communicate recommendations to the Service Manager or Service Advisor.
- Accurately document diagnostics, repairs, labor times, and parts used on repair orders.
- Properly process warranty repairs and ensure warranty parts are tagged and documented.
- Test and verify repairs to ensure equipment operates safely and reliably before delivery.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Stay current with manufacturer certifications, technical bulletins, and industry advancements through ongoing paid training.
- Mentor and assist apprentice and B-Level technicians by sharing technical knowledge and best practices.
- Deliver exceptional workmanship that exceeds customer expectations.
Experience
We're seeking an experienced technician who can work independently and confidently handle the most complex marine repairs.
Qualifications include:
- A-Level Marine Technician experience with advanced diagnostic and repair skills.
- Several years of hands-on experience repairing marine engines, boats, and marine systems.
- Strong knowledge of gasoline marine engines, electrical systems, fuel systems, steering systems, and marine accessories.
- Experience with engine manufacturers such as Mercury, Yamaha, Suzuki, Honda, or similar is preferred.
- Ability to diagnose difficult intermittent mechanical and electrical issues.
- Strong troubleshooting and critical-thinking skills.
- Ability to efficiently prioritize work in a fast-paced service environment.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Commitment to quality workmanship and customer satisfaction.
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and work in a shop environment.
Manufacturer certifications are a plus, but we will continue investing in your professional development through paid factory training.
