Job Title: Health Technician - Residential Eating Disorder Care Program
Location: Saylorsburg PA
Summary: As a Health Technician in our Residential Eating Disorder Care Program, you will play a vital role in providing essential support to individuals on their path to recovery from eating disorders. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the safety, well-being, and comfort of our residents while fostering a therapeutic and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Resident Care and Support: Provide direct care and support to residents, including assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as meal times, personal hygiene, and recreation.
Monitor and document residents' vital signs, food intake, and overall well-being as directed by the healthcare team.
Observation and Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed records of resident behaviors, moods, and responses to treatment.
Report any significant changes or concerns promptly to the nursing and clinical staff.
Therapeutic Assistance: Assist in the implementation of therapeutic interventions and activities under the guidance of clinical staff.
Foster a supportive and empathetic environment that encourages residents to engage in the recovery process.
Safety and Crisis Management: Monitor residents for any self-harm behaviors or safety concerns, intervening when necessary.
Follow established protocols for managing crises and emergencies.
Meal Support: Encourage residents to follow their individualized meal plans and assist as needed during meal times.
Promote a positive and non-judgmental atmosphere surrounding food and eating.
Collaborative Teamwork: Work closely with the multidisciplinary healthcare team, including nurses, therapists, and dietitians, to ensure coordinated care for residents.
Participate in team meetings to discuss resident progress and treatment plans.
Education and Support: Provide information and support to residents and their families regarding the nature of eating disorders, treatment options, and the recovery process.
Assist in organizing and conducting educational sessions and group activities.
Maintaining a Therapeutic Environment:Help create a safe and comfortable living environment that promotes recovery and healing.
Encourage residents to engage in therapeutic activities and adhere to program rules.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree or coursework in psychology, social work, or related fields is a plus.
- Prior experience in a healthcare or mental health setting is preferred.
- Compassion, patience, and a non-judgmental attitude toward individuals with eating disorders.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Strong observation and documentation skills.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to the unique needs of residents in an eating disorder care program.
