Duties
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
- Monitor patient health by observing vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature; report changes to healthcare professionals
- Support medication administration following prescribed guidelines and maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with meal consumption as needed
- Facilitate patient transfer methods safely using equipment like Hoyer lifts or manual handling techniques
- Maintain a clean and safe environment through regular cleaning duties and infection control practices
- Support residents with mobility and personal transportation needs within the facility or community
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly desirable
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques and dementia or Alzheimer's care is preferred
- Experience with patient monitoring, medication administration, and vital signs measurement is advantageous
- Certification in first aid and CPR required; additional certifications such as HIPAA training or hospice care are a plus
- Ability to assist with ADLs and perform manual handling safely; heavy lifting experience is beneficial
- Familiarity with care plans, resident communication, and supporting individuals with developmental or intellectual disabilities enhances your effectiveness in this role
- Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with clients, families, and healthcare teams
