American Traveler is hiring an Oncology RN for an inpatient unit requiring 2 years of experience and ONS/ONCC certification.

Inpatient oncology unit setting
-
Day shift schedule, Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm (5x8 hours)
-
13-week assignment length
-
Epic EMR experience required
-
Bi-weekly orientation schedule
-
Active NC or Compact RN license required in hand
-
BLS and ONS/ONCC certifications required
-
Minimum 2 years of oncology nursing experience
-
Epic charting system experience required
-
Experience with IV therapy/infusions and accessing/managing ports
-
Skilled in colostomy/ileostomy management and care
-
Experience caring for patients with colorectal cancer and melanoma
-
Pain management skills including IV push narcotic agents
-
Experience with chemotherapy and biotherapy administration
-
Ability to recognize and communicate abnormal lab values
-
Ability to recognize and manage treatment side effects
-
Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
-
One supervisory reference from within the last year required for consideration
-
Full SSN and DOB required for consideration

Provide direct patient care coordination for oncology patients including post-surgical care

Deliver psychosocial care and patient/family education and support
-
Manage care for patients undergoing chemotherapy and biotherapy treatments
-
Monitor and respond to abnormal lab values and treatment side effects
-
Flu vaccine required during flu season (10/31-3/31) with no exemptions
-
Local candidates accepted within a 75-mile radius
-
RTO must be limited to 5-7 days maximum
-
Previous permanent employment with this health system must not have occurred within the past 6 months
