Responsibilities
- Respond swiftly to emergency calls, providing immediate medical attention at the scene and during transport.
- Perform thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and physiological evaluations to determine the severity of injuries or illnesses.
- Administer medications and injections following established protocols, ensuring patient safety and effective treatment.
- Manage airway patency through airway management techniques and utilize advanced life support skills such as ventilations and oxygen therapy.
- Conduct patient triage at Level I Trauma Centers and Level II trauma centers, prioritizing care based on injury severity and medical urgency.
- Maintain aseptic techniques during procedures like venipuncture and medication administration to prevent infections.
- Operate emergency vehicles safely while adhering to traffic laws; perform heavy lifting during patient extrication and transfer.
- Document all patient interactions accurately using medical terminology, including vital signs, assessments, treatments provided, and medications administered.
- Stay current with physiology knowledge, anatomy understanding, DME (durable medical equipment) usage, and emergency medicine best practices to deliver top-tier patient care.
Skills
- Extensive EMS experience combined with strong airway management skills ensures preparedness for diverse scenarios.
- Proven experience in triage at trauma centers—particularly Level I Trauma Centers—demonstrates your capability to prioritize urgent cases effectively.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, medication administration, venipuncture, and aseptic technique is essential for precise patient assessments and interventions.
- Familiarity with emergency medicine protocols, vital signs monitoring, heavy lifting techniques, driving emergency vehicles safely, and urgent care procedures is required for optimal performance.
