Position Overview: Senior Mechanical Engineer
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will serve as the technical lead on complex mechanical building systems projects, guiding design teams from concept through construction. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who enjoys solving technical challenges, mentoring junior engineers, and working closely with clients. The position also offers a clearly defined path to Associate for individuals looking to advance into leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical engineering design on projects from concept through construction
- Develop conceptual and preliminary mechanical designs, including redline layouts for estimating
- Perform and oversee HVAC load calculations, equipment selection, and system sizing
- Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and engineering best practices
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects on schedule and within budget
- Support client meetings, project pursuits, and technical presentations
- Mentor and develop junior engineers while providing technical guidance across project teams
- Conduct site visits, field investigations, and resolve construction-phase design issues
- Stay current on industry codes, technologies, and mission-critical design trends
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required
- Extensive experience designing HVAC and mechanical building systems
- Experience working on mission-critical, healthcare, federal, or data center projects preferred
- Strong understanding of engineering codes, standards, and industry best practices
- Proven ability to lead technical teams and communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders
