Quality Control/Shipping & Receiving (FISH COMPANY)
Position Summary
The Quality Control/Assurance Clerk is responsible for maintaining product quality and food safety standards throughout receiving storage, production, and shipping operations. This role supports inventory accuracy, regulatory compliance, HACCP procedures, and efficient warehouse operations while ensuring all seafood products meet company quality requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities
Quality Control
- Inspect all incoming production items for quality, quantity, and size specifications.
- Verify product rotation using FIFO (First-In, First-Out) inventory practices.
- Ensure products are properly stored in refrigerated areas and adequately iced before the end of each shift.
- Verify receiving quantities against bills of lading, packing slips, and purchase orders.
- Inspect returned products and report disposition recommendations and inventory adjustments.
- Coordinate with the Distribution Coordinator regarding daily production schedules, shortages, and order discrepancies.
- Support the Quality Control Supervisor and Operations Manager in ensuring compliance with HACCP procedures and company food safety standards.
Receiving
- Unload vendor deliveries and inspect incoming shipments.
- Verify vendor information, product type, quality, temperature, and condition.
- Reject products that do not meet company quality or temperature requirements.
- Confirm proper icing and packaging conditions.
- Inspect delivery vehicles for cleanliness, temperature control, and refrigeration operation.
- Complete truck condition reports and document any discrepancies.
- Count and verify cases against delivery documentation.
- Record shortages, overages, or discrepancies on delivery tickets.
- Sign receiving documents with the appropriate date and time.
- Transfer products promptly to refrigerated storage areas.
Shipping and Warehouse Operations
- Maintain accurate records of all incoming and outgoing shipments.
- Process shipments in accordance with established procedures and customer requirements.
- Communicate shipment status updates to internal departments and management.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Track shipments and ensure timely delivery.
- Support positive working relationships between sales, customers, and warehouse operations.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and immediately report accidents or unsafe conditions.
- Receive, unload, store, and stock inventory.
- Verify inventory records through physical counts and investigate discrepancies.
- Perform domestic and international shipping activities.
- Package and stock finished seafood products.
- Operate a powered industrial forklift to transport inventory, unload shipments, and load customer orders.
- Pick, stage, and prepare orders for shipment.
- Process work orders, purchase orders, and sales orders.
- Conduct cycle counts and inventory audits.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of quality control and food safety practices is preferred.
- Experience in warehouse, shipping/receiving, or inventory control environments preferred.
- Ability to operate material handling equipment, including forklifts.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in refrigerated environments and handle seafood products.
- Basic computer and inventory management skills.
- Ability to lift and move materials as required.
Pay: $22.00 - $26.00 per hour
