Hourly Rate: $21.50 to $23
The Employment Service Specialist (ESS) provides assistance to clients with hands-on training and work experience. The position will collaborate with other ESSs to fulfill program placement goals. The ESS will work under the supervision of the Job Center Site Director.
Essential Duties
Develop Individual Employment Plans that align with client assessments which include short-, mid-, and long-term goals.
Job development/placement assistance: Contact employers to develop job positions for enrolled clients.
Provide case management: client file maintenance, monitoring, support, connect to vocational classroom training, guidance, and follow up for job retention.
Develop training and work experience contracts with employers; assist in client training and work-based learning.
Facilitate job referrals and placements by connecting clients with suitable employers and job opportunities.
Follow up with clients and employers to monitor progress, address any concerns, and ensure successful job placements.
Assess clients for supportive services.
Provide job readiness sessions, such as employment coaching and interview preparation.
Provide referrals and resources when necessary.
Work with outside services/partners to develop employability plans for clients.
Attend meetings and participate in training-related workshops; working closely with existing partners and develop new collaborative partners.
Work with MIS staff for accurate data collection and reporting.
Accurate program service documentation, client tracking, and data reporting.
Assist with ongoing data collection or evaluation services as needed.
Assist with progress reports to funders and partners.
Worksite visits to monitor clients’ progress and regulation compliance.
Ensure regular and timely attendance.
Follow workplace safety rules, regulations, and protocols, report safety issues immediately.
Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and quality assurance reviews to enhance skills, share best practices, and improve program effectiveness.
Work flexible hours that may include occasional weekends and evenings.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge and Skills
Must be at least 18 years old.
Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree preferred.
At least one (1) year experience with employment and vocational training programs.
At least one (1) year experience with assessment and case management.
Ability to communicate effectively with people from a variety of social, cultural and economic backgrounds.
Awareness of the social and economic problems facing minorities and underserved communities in Sacramento.
Knowledge of the Sacramento County labor market and occupational climate, as well as community resources preferred.
Experience working with employers and developing new collaborations.
Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple work tasks and meet deadlines.
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and be culturally responsive and appropriate.
Proficient in Microsoft 365 and other computer programs.
Team-orientated, flexible, enthusiastic, creative, and dedicated to the formation and philosophy of employment and economic development.
Must obtain clearance of fingerprint background check through DOJ.
Must have a valid CA Driver’s License, reliable transportation, vehicle insurance, and good driving record.
Bilingual/Multilingual skills preferred.
