Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly upon arrival, verify their information, and manage appointment scheduling efficiently using electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Epic or similar platforms.
- Conduct intake procedures by collecting patient histories, updating personal details, and explaining clinic processes clearly.
- Prepare patients for eye exams by performing preliminary tests such as visual acuity assessments and basic ophthalmic measurements.
- Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations while managing medical records and documentation accurately.
- Assist with clinical procedures by applying aseptic techniques during eye examinations and handling ophthalmic equipment with care.
- Manage front desk responsibilities including answering phones, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and processing payments or billing using medical coding and billing systems.
- Ensure clinic cleanliness and organization by adhering to infection control protocols and maintaining a safe environment for staff and patients.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team on pediatrics or other specialized patient needs to deliver comprehensive eye care.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in medical office settings, ophthalmology/ optometry clinics is highly preferred; familiarity with EMR systems such as Revolution EHR
- Excellent patient care skills with a friendly demeanor and clear communication abilities.
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy at all times.
- Basic knowledge of medical coding and billing processes is advantageous but not required; willingness to learn is essential.
