Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced, dependable, and knowledgeable Supports Broker to assist with a Michigan Medicaid Self-Determination program for an adult with complex medical and physical needs.
The Supports Broker serves as an advisor, advocate, and resource to the participant and legal guardian, helping ensure the Self-Determination program operates efficiently and in compliance with Medicaid requirements. The ideal candidate is proactive, organized, responsive, and experienced in Self-Determination, budgeting, and person-centered planning.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the development, review, monitoring, and revision of the Individual Budget.
- Prepare and submit budget amendments or revisions when changes are needed.
- Proactively monitor budget renewal and expiration dates to help prevent interruptions in services, EVV access, and caregiver payroll.
- Coordinate with Community Mental Health (CMH), the Fiscal Management Service (FMS), and the participant/legal guardian regarding budget approvals, revisions, and implementation.
- Monitor expenditures to help ensure services remain within the approved budget.
- Assist with developing and implementing the Person-Centered Plan.
- Help identify community resources and supports that meet the participant’s goals.
- Provide guidance regarding Michigan Medicaid Self-Determination policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.
- Assist with recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and retaining qualified caregivers.
- Help develop backup staffing plans to prevent interruptions in services.
- Assist in resolving issues involving EVV, payroll, staffing, scheduling, and service implementation.
- Attend planning meetings and assist with communication between the participant, guardian, CMH, FMS, and service providers.
- Respond promptly to questions and assist in resolving concerns before they affect services.
- Help ensure the participant’s services remain stable, uninterrupted, and consistent with the approved Person-Centered Plan.
Qualifications
- Experience working with Michigan Medicaid Self-Determination programs.
- Knowledge of Person-Centered Planning and Individual Budgets.
- Familiarity with Fiscal Management Services (FMS), EVV systems, Medicaid billing, and Self-Determination requirements.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience supporting individuals with developmental or physical disabilities preferred.
- Ability to work collaboratively while respecting the authority of the participant and legal guardian.
Important Information
The Supports Broker serves as an advisor and resource. The Supports Broker does not supervise caregivers, hire or terminate employees, or act as the employer of record. The legal guardian remains responsible for employment decisions, staffing, scheduling, and day-to-day management of caregivers.

Pay: $25.90 - $26.00 per hour
