This position is a member of our Air Permits Division.
HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
- Review simple permits by rule (PBR), Standard Permits (SP) (30 TAC 116), or Potential to Emit (PTE) registrations or certifications and similar submittals (permit projects) ensuring high quality work and completing the required quantity and quality of projects within established timeframes.
- Conduct a comprehensive technical review for projects to include defining all sources of contaminants, applying appropriate federal and state requirements, reviewing emission calculations, drafting permit documents, completing technical review summaries and contacts applicants to obtain additional information.
- Provide quality customer service to applicants, agency staff, other state/federal agencies, elected officials, stakeholders, and the general public concerning the applicability of federal and state requirements for the permitting process and the technical completeness of projects.
- Attend and assist in technical training activities concerning major and minor permit reviews. Participate in division, section, and team meetings.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree, with a major in engineering, environmental science, geology, chemistry, or biology from an accredited college or university.
- Experience working with air permitting or other environmental permitting and/or compliance actions.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in engineering, physical science, environmental science, or a related field.
Employees in this classification series may research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure, including but not limited to a communication infrastructure system, cybersecurity system, electric grid, hazardous waste treatment system, or water treatment facility. See Tex. Business & Commerce Code Section 117.001(2). Accordingly, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure is a requirement to be hired for and to continue to be employed with TCEQ.

Work Schedule
Standard business hours are M-F, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Individual and work group schedule determined by the TCEQ Air Permits Division.
