CDL Driver / Equipment Transport Operator

Position Summary
Thomas Hicks Landscaping is seeking a dependable, safety-focused CDL Driver to join our growing team. This position is responsible for safely transporting construction equipment, materials, and debris to and from job sites throughout Northwest Florida.
The ideal candidate is comfortable operating a mini dump truck, transporting skid steers, excavators, and other heavy equipment on a gooseneck trailer, and assisting crews as needed when not driving. This is a hands-on position requiring flexibility, professionalism, and a strong work ethic.
Essential Responsibilities
- Safely operate company CDL vehicles in compliance with all DOT regulations.
- Operate a mini dump truck to transport dirt, sand, rock, debris, and construction materials.
- Transport excavators, skid steers (Bobcats), compact track loaders, and other heavy equipment using a gooseneck trailer.
- Properly load, secure, transport, and unload equipment using chains, binders, and approved tie-down methods.
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
- Complete required DOT inspection reports and driver logs.
- Maintain a clean driving record and operate all equipment safely.
- Coordinate deliveries and equipment moves with project managers and field supervisors.
- Assist field crews with loading, unloading, and light labor when transportation duties are complete.
- Report maintenance needs and mechanical issues immediately.
- Represent Thomas Hicks Landscaping professionally with customers and the public.
QualificationsRequired
- Valid Class A CDL.
- Current DOT Medical Card.
- Clean driving record.
- Experience hauling equipment on gooseneck trailers.
- Ability to safely secure heavy equipment for transport.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and safe transportation practices.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds repeatedly.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Dependable transportation and reliable attendance.
Preferred
- Experience operating:
- Mini dump trucks
- Excavators
- Skid steers/Bobcats
- Compact track loaders
- Small construction equipment
- Landscaping or construction industry experience.
- Familiarity with equipment maintenance and daily inspections.
- Experience pulling trailers in tight residential and commercial job sites.

Physical Requirements
