Tax & Accounting Associate (Growth Track to Senior)
Location: Schoharie, NY (In-person with flexibility over time)
We are a growing accounting firm based in Schoharie, NY, working with small businesses, individuals, and municipal clients. We are looking for a hands-on Tax & Accounting Associate who wants to grow into a senior role over time.
This is a practical, work-focused role — not corporate accounting or audit. The work includes tax preparation, bookkeeping cleanup, payroll, and direct client interaction.
What You’ll Do:
- Prepare individual and business tax returns (1040, 1120S, 1065)
- Perform bookkeeping and cleanup of client records
- Handle payroll and related filings
- Work directly with clients to resolve accounting and tax issues
- Support municipal accounting and budgeting (training provided)
What We’re Looking For:
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience in tax or accounting
- Experience with QuickBooks (Desktop or Online)
- Ability to independently prepare individual returns (1040) and assist with business returns (1120S/1065)
- Ability to work through messy or incomplete records
- Strong attention to detail and ownership mindset
Location Requirement:
This role requires working from our Schoharie office, especially in the initial months. Flexibility increases over time based on performance.
Compensation:
$60,000 – $70,000 depending on experience, with clear growth opportunities.
This role is ideal for someone who wants to build real-world accounting experience and grow into a senior position over time.
Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
