Position Summary
The Kids Ministry Director provides vision, leadership, and oversight for all children's ministry programming from birth through 6th grade. This individual is responsible for creating a safe, engaging, and Christ-centered environment where children can grow in their faith, families are supported, and volunteers are equipped to serve effectively. The Kids Ministry Director works closely with church leadership to align children's ministry with the overall mission, values, and vision of the church.
Key ResponsibilitiesMinistry Leadership & Vision
- Develop and implement a comprehensive vision and strategy for ministry to children from birth through 6th grade.
- Create age-appropriate environments and experiences that help children know, love, and follow Jesus.
- Ensure ministry programming aligns with the church's mission, theology, and discipleship goals.
- Evaluate and improve ministry effectiveness through regular assessment and feedback.
- Thinking both globally regarding the whole church and narrowly within specific departments.
Weekend & Midweek Programming
- Oversee all children's ministry environments, classes, and events.
- Plan and coordinate curriculum selection and implementation.
- Oversee all scheduling of rotating team of kids ministry teachers for Anthem weekend services.
- Ensure engaging, safe, and spiritually impactful experiences for every age group.
- Manage classroom structures, schedules, supplies, and ministry resources.
- Coordinate special events such as WinShape, camps, family events, holiday programs, and outreach opportunities.
- Manage family milestone celebrations like baptisms, birthdays and child dedications.
Volunteer Leadership & Development
- Recruit, train, schedule, and support volunteer leaders and team members.
- Build a healthy volunteer culture focused on spiritual growth, excellence, and teamwork.
- Provide ongoing coaching, encouragement, and appreciation for volunteers.
- Identify and develop new leaders within the ministry.
- Remain current in children's ministry and small group best practices, ministry trends, and curriculum options.
Family Ministry
- Partner with parents as the primary spiritual influencers in their children's lives.
- Provide resources, communication, and support that encourage faith development at home.
- Build meaningful relationships with families and serve as a trusted ministry resource.
- Develop opportunities for family engagement and discipleship.
Safety & Administration
- Maintain and enforce all child protection, security, and check-in procedures.
- Ensure compliance with background checks and volunteer screening processes and Ministry Safe videos.
- Develop policies and procedures that promote a safe and welcoming environment.
- Maintain accurate records, attendance tracking, and volunteer databases.
- Manage and maintain an annual budget for kids ministry including large scale outreaches, fall outreach and summer family events.
Staff Collaboration
- Collaborate with pastoral staff and ministry leaders to support the overall mission of the church.
- Participate in staff meetings, planning sessions, and church-wide initiatives.
- Assist in creating a culture of unity and excellence across all ministries.
- Participate in all church events like Easter, Christmas events, and youth conferences as part of the larger Anthem staff team.
Work Environment & Ministry Expectations
- Light to medium physical work in a professional office environment.
- Maintain an agreed-upon work schedule in coordination with your direct supervisor.
- Recognize that effective ministry and care for the congregation cannot always be confined to a traditional workweek.
- Demonstrate a willingness to serve sacrificially as ministry needs arise, understanding that opportunities for ministry may occur beyond regular office hours.
- Be available for occasional evening, weekend, and holiday ministry responsibilities.
- Participate in occasional local, domestic, and international travel as required for ministry, conferences, training, or mission opportunities.

- Supports and models the beliefs, values, and mission of the church.
- Active participant in the life of the church.
Professional Qualifications
- Experience leading children's ministry, education, or related programs.
- Proven ability to recruit, develop, and lead volunteer teams.
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
- Experience working with children from birth through elementary age is preferred.

Compensation
- $55-$65k/year DOE

- (Anthem contribution 80% of premium/Employee pre-tax contribution 20%)
- 403 (b) Matched to 5% of Gross
