Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Dental Hygienist to join our vibrant dental team! Responsibilities
- Perform dental prophylaxis, including cleaning, polishing, and fluoride treatments to promote optimal oral health.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) using dental x-ray equipment, ensuring accuracy and patient safety.
- Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to inform treatment planning.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to foster long-term dental health.
- Assist the dentist during various procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and comfort.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records and documentation within electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
- Follow infection prevention protocols, including aseptic techniques and infection control measures, to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
- Monitor and operate dental equipment properly, ensuring all tools are sterilized and maintained according to healthcare standards.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by maintaining patient confidentiality and safeguarding sensitive medical information.
- Support the overall workflow of the dental office by managing appointment scheduling, patient flow, and assisting with administrative tasks as needed.
Qualifications
- Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current CPR certification.
- Proven experience in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry settings preferred; familiarity with pediatric dentistry is a plus.
- Proficiency in dental terminology, medical terminology, and understanding of dental equipment operation.
- Experience using EHR/Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation review and management.
- Strong knowledge of infection prevention management, aseptic techniques, and healthcare infection control standards.
- Ability to perform dental x-ray procedures accurately while ensuring patient safety.
- Excellent client communication skills with a compassionate approach toward patient care—especially with pediatric patients when applicable.
- Knowledge of medical coding related to dental procedures is advantageous.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and professionalism.
