Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Part Time Accountant to join our dynamic construction team. Responsibilities
- Manage general ledger accounting, including journal entries, account reconciliation, and balance sheet reconciliation to ensure accurate financial records.
- Prepare and interpret financial statements, reports, and analyses to support decision-making processes.
- Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections.
- Conduct bank reconciliations and cash flow analysis to monitor liquidity and financial stability.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act), LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit), and other regulatory standards.
- Utilize financial software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, PeopleSoft, and other systems for efficient data entry, reporting, and analysis.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities while maintaining accurate records of all transactions.
- Assist with regulatory reporting requirements and internal audits to uphold the organization’s financial integrity.
- Perform detailed financial analysis using Excel data analysis techniques like VLOOKUP functions, pivot tables, and advanced formulas to interpret complex data sets.
- Mentor junior staff or interns in accounting procedures, promoting professional development within the team.
Experience
- Proven accounting experience with a strong understanding of corporate finance principles and financial concepts.
- Experience with non-profit accounting, governmental accounting, or public accounting is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with technical accounting areas such as securities law, wills & trusts law, or regulatory compliance is a plus.
- Demonstrated expertise in double entry bookkeeping, accrual accounting, journal entries, and account analysis.
- Hands-on experience with financial software including QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, PeopleSoft or similar platforms.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and report writing; experience with Excel functions like VLOOKUP is preferred.
- Knowledge of auditing procedures, internal controls (including SOX compliance), and regulatory reporting standards.
- Ability to interpret financial statements accurately and communicate findings clearly for management review.
- Prior experience in payroll processing or tax preparation enhances your suitability for this role.
