CNC Operator II – 3 & 5 Axis

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced CNC Operator II with strong 3 axis and 5 axis machining experience. This position is responsible for moderate to complex machining, fixturing, machine setup, tooling, and in process inspection while producing precision components to tight tolerances of ±0.0005".
The CNC Operator II will work closely with CNC personnel, toolmakers, engineers, and supervisors to determine efficient machining methods while maintaining high standards for quality, accuracy, and productivity.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Set up and operate 3 axis and 5 axis vertical machining centers
- Perform moderate to complex machining operations with limited supervision
- Develop machining processes and setups for moderate and complex jobs
- Read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, sketches, and written specifications
- Perform progressive machining operations involving close tolerances and high finish requirements
- Select and properly utilize cutting tools, fixtures, and machining parameters
- Perform in process inspections to ensure dimensional accuracy and quality workmanship
- Use micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, gauges, and other precision measuring equipment
- Complete job travelers, time records, inspection documentation, and other required paperwork
- Provide feedback and recommendations to improve CNC programs, processes, tooling, and overall efficiency
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Assist with training apprentices and newly hired CNC employees as needed
Qualifications & Experience
- High School Diploma or GED required
- 3 to 6 years of CNC machining experience or equivalent combination of training and experience
- Experience operating 3 axis and 5 axis CNC machining centers
- Strong blueprint and mechanical drawing interpretation skills
- Strong understanding of G and M code programming
- Knowledge of machining feeds and speeds
- Experience with carbide drills, end mills, inserted cutters, boring tools, and related tooling
- Experience machining both ferrous and nonferrous materials
- Ability to perform precision inspections involving length, diameter, straightness, flatness, and other dimensional requirements
- Experience with Mitsubishi controls preferred
- Experience with Heidenhain controls preferred
Technical & Mathematical Skills
Candidates should have a solid understanding of machining mathematics and be comfortable working with:

- Basic geometry
- Trigonometry
- Precision measurements and tolerances
- Machining calculations related to feeds, speeds, dimensions, and tooling

Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for approximately 7 to 8 hours per shift
- Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds
- Ability to perform regular bending, reaching, lifting, and other physical activities associated with machining operations
- Ability to safely work around CNC machines, tooling, and manufacturing equipment
- Must have the visual ability necessary to perform precision machining and inspection work
Work Environment
This position operates in a manufacturing and machining environment. Employees will regularly work around CNC equipment, tooling, machinery, and production operations.

Pay: $40.00 - $50.00 per hour
