Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and safety-minded Solar Inspection Technician to join our residential operations team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for inspecting completed solar installations to ensure they meet company quality standards, local building codes, and utility/interconnection requirements. This role requires strong technical knowledge of solar systems, attention to detail, and the ability to identify and resolve potential issues before final inspections or commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct field inspections of residential solar installations to verify workmanship, code compliance, and adherence to approved design plans.
- Perform visual, electrical, and mechanical inspections of solar arrays, wiring, conduit runs, roof penetrations, inverters, and system labeling.
- Ensure installations meet NEC, AHJ, and utility standards as well as company quality and safety policies.
- Verify system components, including modules, inverters, racking, and wiring, are installed per manufacturer specifications.
- Perform testing and troubleshooting when required (voltage checks, continuity tests, system verification).
- Document inspection findings with detailed photos, notes, and corrective action reports.
- Collaborate with project managers, service teams, and electricians to resolve punch-list items before final inspection.
- Maintain accurate digital records of inspections and communicate status updates in real time.
- Provide feedback and recommendations to improve installation quality and field practices.
Qualifications
- 1+ year of experience in solar installation, inspection, or quality assurance (residential preferred).
- Familiarity with solar electrical systems, NEC codes, and PV components.
- Experience using Enphase systems or other solar monitoring platforms.
- Strong understanding of QA/QC principles and safe work practices.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, one-line diagrams, and electrical schematics.
- Excellent attention to detail and communication skills.
- Comfortable working outdoors, on roofs, and in various weather conditions.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $24.57 - $29.59 per hour
