About the Role
Calidad Services is a growing security and low-voltage systems integrator seeking an experienced Low Voltage Technician to install, terminate, test, and commission security and low-voltage systems across multiple active projects. This is a hands-on field role: you're on the tools every day, delivering quality work on schedule while coordinating with the General Foreman, Project Coordinator, and Technical Project Management.

What You'll Do
- Install, secure, and label low-voltage cabling and devices to spec and on schedule
- Terminate, test, and certify copper and fiber; correct any failures before inspection
- Rough-in and trim-out CCTV, access control, alarm, fire alarm, and AV systems
- Troubleshoot and commission systems; verify field-of-view, coverage, and functionality
- Keep clean job sites, follow safety procedures, and keep Monday.com tasks current
- Support complex installs, produce as-builts, and help coach newer technicians as you grow
What We're Looking For — Technical Skills
- Electrical fundamentals: AC vs. DC, voltage / current / resistance, Ohm's Law, grounding and bonding, circuit protection, lockout/tagout, and reading electrical schematics.
- Cabling & terminations: pulling, measuring, and securing cable (Cat5e–Cat7, coax, fiber, speaker, alarm, shielded, plenum vs. riser); terminating RJ45, keystone jacks, patch panels, 110 blocks, BNC, fiber, and Phoenix connectors.
- Structured cabling standards: T568A/B, straight-through vs. cross-over, cable certification, rack organization, cable management, and patch-panel layouts.
- Networking: IP addressing, subnetting, DHCP, DNS, MAC, VLANs, switches/routers/firewalls, PoE, TCP/IP, NAT, and Wi-Fi basics; CLI tools (ping, ipconfig/ifconfig, tracert, nslookup, arp).
- Video surveillance (CCTV): IP and analog cameras, NVR/DVR, PTZ/dome/bullet/fisheye, lens selection and field of view, storage calculations, motion detection, remote viewing, and PoE switches.
- Access control: door strikes, magnetic locks, request-to-exit, card readers and keypads, credential programming, elevator and gate control, power supplies, and backup batteries.
- Alarm & fire alarm: motion / glass-break / contacts, panels, zone programming, wireless and cellular communicators; NAC and initiating circuits, addressable vs. conventional, and testing to local code.
- Fiber optics: single-mode and multi-mode, fusion and mechanical splicing, cleaning, OTDR and power-meter testing, and troubleshooting.
- Audio/visual: HDMI extenders, matrix switchers, speakers, amplifiers, DSP, conference rooms, projectors, and video walls.
- Testing & troubleshooting: multimeter, cable tester, tone generator, network / fiber / PoE testers; diagnosing shorts and opens, bad terminations, and isolating intermittent faults.
- Construction & power tools: reading blueprints and drawings, ceiling/wall types and stud locations, concrete drilling, framing, drywall repair; drills, hammer drills, impact drivers, rotary hammers, hole saws, fish tape, glow rods, conduit benders, and knockout punches.
- Codes & standards: NEC, building and fire codes, OSHA safety, low-voltage installation standards, and ADA requirements.
- Documentation & computer skills: as-built drawings, cable labeling, IP documentation, rack diagrams, service reports, and material tracking; Windows, mobile-device and firmware configuration, and cloud management platforms.
Project Awareness & Field Coordination
A strong technician understands the project around the work — not just the install:
- Prints, specs & scopes: reading and interpreting construction prints, specifications, and scopes of work, and understanding how the design translates to the field.
- RFIs & RFPs: knowing when to raise a request for information, how to respond to a request for proposal, and how to document both clearly.
- On-site meetings: meeting on site with customers, general contractors, and owners, and running or contributing to site walks and coordination meetings.
- Scheduling: understanding manloading, rolling schedules, and the critical path — and how a task's timing affects the trades around it.
- Change orders: recognizing out-of-scope work, and putting change orders together with the documentation to back them up.
- Documentation & QC: maintaining accurate project documentation and performing quality control so work meets spec before sign-off.
- Punch & closeout: creating, tracking, and closing out punch lists to drive a clean project finish.
- Working with other trades: coordinating professionally with other trades on site to avoid conflicts and keep the job moving.
Requirements & Certifications
- OSHA 10 required (OSHA 30 a plus)
- Current First Aid / CPR certification
- 6–10 years of low-voltage / security systems installation experience (or equivalent skill)
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record (company vehicle and daily site travel)
- Able to lift 50 lbs, work from ladders and lifts, and travel between sites daily
- Clear, professional communicator with crews, GCs, and internal teams
How Success Is Measured
- First-pass inspection readiness — work passes QC before the inspector arrives, not after
- Installations completed to spec, on schedule, and within estimated labor hours
- Clean terminations that pass certification testing
- Accurate labeling, as-builts, and service documentation
- Zero lost-time safety incidents; PPE and lockout/tagout followed
- Monday.com current — no overdue or unacknowledged tasks
Work Environment
This is an active field role across multiple concurrent project sites in the region — new construction, retrofit, and service environments.
