ICE | LPSL APATH Immunohisto lab

A Histotechnician executes histologic techniques to patient specimens in order to facilitate pathological diagnoses. Activities related to this position are heavily rooted in immunohistochemistry, as well as microtomy, embedding, staining, coverslipping, and troubleshooting issues within the IHC lab. Full dedication to patient care, fellow coworkers, other professionals, a safe work environment and this position are also key. Working closely with other team members to meet high standards of patient care is expected for this position. Immunohistochemical testing will be conducted on a wide variety of specimens ranging from biopsies to large organs and limbs of the human anatomy. Following procedures and increasing laboratory efficiency and effectiveness is required. The position requires excellent organizational, multi-tasking, and communication skills.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma/GED and registered as an HT (ASCP) or eligible OR Associates with a combination of 12 semester hours in biology and chemistry.
- One year to obtain ASCP HT certification after completion of 12 consecutive months of full-time on the job training in a histopathology laboratory.
Ability to work on occasional weekends and on-call duties.

- Perform computer data entry, order retrieval and modification, and print patient labels
- Perform immunohistochemical stains on smears or other fresh samples
- Delivering completed cases to various locations
Run, review, and document QC/QA, as well as maintain cleanliness of the laboratory
Perform other duties as needed.
