EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
This position supports the design, installation, repair, and maintenance of telecommunications systems across buildings and outdoor environments. The work focuses on cabling, equipment setup, troubleshooting, and coordination with staff and contractors.
As a Telecommunication Specialist 1, you will perform the following duties:

Project Planning: Assist with planning telecommunications projects by preparing drawings, materials lists, and cost estimates

Cable Installation: Unreels, pulls, and strings copper and fiber cable on poles, through utility vaults and conduit, and into buildings using bucket trucks and cable trailers

Equipment Setup: Set up telecommunications components such as racks, patch panels, switches, and telephone systems

Troubleshooting Work: Identify and repair cable damage, connectivity issues, and equipment failures

Field Operations: Locate underground lines, mark construction areas, and travel to sites to complete assigned tasks

Record Maintenance: Update telecommunications drawings and ensure work follows required cabling standards

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment.

Work hours are 7:45 am to 4:00 pm, Monday - Friday, with 45-minute lunch.

Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
