Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and energetic Medical Biller to join our dynamic healthcare team! In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely submission of claims, and facilitating smooth financial operations within our medical practice. As a medical biller you will also be responsible for accurately recording and timely posting of all monies received from various payors, and adjustments according to contractual terms, and follow up with unpaid claims or delinquent accounts. Duties
- Ensure successful entry of all encounters into the practice management electronically.
- Reconcile all charges and data entered in the system assuring 100% data entry accuracy; assure correct provider; facility, medical service and coding are billed.
- Assist the Billing Supervisor collect accounts receivable, including but not limited to the following revenue sources: Medi-Cal, Medicare, PPO, HMO, Private insurance and other fees for service revenue.
- Assist the Billing Supervisor as directed to appeal, trouble shoot, prepare denied claims for rebilling, inquire and correct unpaid claims for re-submission daily as necessary.
- Request and follow up on additional information as needed for auditing claims and all revenue reports including eligibility, benefits and provider information.
- Submit claims to insurance companies on daily basis as necessary. Audit claims daily to ensure timely collections. Review EOB’s as directed to ensure compliance with billing practices. Monitor and date late payments within standard billing cycle timeframe. Initiate late payment notices to relevant parties.
- File all correspondence into patient’s chart.
- Follow billing policy guidelines and documented procedures.
- Consistent demonstrate and uphold Nhan Hoa Clinic’s principle of providing quality health and human services to the medically underserved and low-income populations in a culturally sensitive manner.
- Review patient bills for accuracy and completeness and obtain any missing information. Prepare, review, and transmit claims using billing software, including electronic and paper claim processing. Participate in handling follow-up questions from internal and external patients and work on resolving any discrepancies or errors.
- File and maintain organized documentation of all billing and record. Follow set billing processes and procedures. Update and review all accounts to keep records of payments up to date.
- Review and analyze accounts to identify trends and issues and recommend solutions. Work with the billing team, Billing Supervisor, and CFO in associated billing tasks as assigned.
- Performs other work-related duties as assigned
Requirements
- Proven experience in medical billing with a strong understanding of medical terminology and medical records management.
- Proficient with CPT codes, HCPCS codes, modifiers, and ICD-10 coding
- Knowledge of EMR/EHR systems for efficient claim processing and record keeping.
- Experience with medical collection processes to recover outstanding payments effectively.
- Ability to interpret complex insurance policies and coordinate with insurance companies for claim resolution.
- Knowledge of insurance guidelines including HMO/PPO, Medicare, Medicaid, and other payer requirements and systems.
- Understanding of FQHC billing is a plus.
- Proficient computer skills, working knowledge of billing software.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently. Self-motivated and self-directed; able to work without supervision. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Maintain patient confidentiality as per HIPAA regulations.

Pay: $23.00 - $26.00 per hour

- High school or equivalent (Required)
Experience:
- Medical billing: 2 years (Required)
License/Certification:
