American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PCU - Acute Leukemia and Hematology position requiring a minimum of 2 years of nursing experience and telemetry skills, with a focus on infection prevention and patient safety.

Acute Leukemia and Hematology PCU unit within a cancer hospital setting

Patient population consists primarily of adults and geriatrics, with a focus on newly diagnosed acute leukemia patients

Staffing ratio goal is 1:4, but may be 1:5 based on unit needs

Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)

If accepting a rotating D/N contract, shift assignments (days, nights, or a combination) are determined by department needs and reviewed every 4-week scheduling period

Weekend requirements are variable based on unit needs

No set or blocked scheduling — self-schedule requests are accepted and considered before the schedule is finalized

Charting performed using Epic (experience required)

Telemetry monitoring is a key component of this role

No Chemo Certification required

Active OH RN license or compact RN license required

Required certifications: BLS and ACLS

Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required

Required skills: Med-Surg/Telemetry, telemetry monitoring, interpretation of dysrhythmias, IV therapy and phlebotomy, blood product administration, central line blood draw, peripheral line care and management, PICC line management, IV insertion, feeding tube care and management, and use of Rapid Response Teams

2 professional references required: at least 1 must be from a Manager, Director, or Supervisor; a Charge RN is acceptable as the second reference; co-worker references are not accepted

All licenses and certifications must be active at time of consideration

Preferred certifications: ONS Chemo Certification and NIHSS

Strong emphasis on infection prevention protocols and patient fall prevention

Orientation consists of the first week Mon–Fri on day shift, followed by a second week of 36 hours of on-unit orientation with a preceptor

First-time travelers will be considered but are subject to client review

Local candidates are accepted

Former facility employees are eligible for a travel assignment after a minimum 6-month separation from the facility
-
Requested time off (RTO) must be submitted at the time of consideration and must not exceed 7 days total for the contract

All candidates are required to complete Ohio state fingerprinting promptly after booking; candidates outside of Ohio may need to travel to an Ohio fingerprinting location or will receive a mailed fingerprinting packet to be completed urgently upon receipt
