American Traveler is seeking a Registered Nurse for a PCU/Acute Leukemia & Hematology unit position requiring current chemotherapy certification and inpatient hematology-oncology experience.

Work in the Acute Leukemia and Hematology unit (PCU) of a cancer hospital
-
Primarily care for newly diagnosed adult and geriatric acute leukemia patients
-
High volume of blood product administration, IV antibiotics, and electrolyte management
-
Patient ratio goal of 1:4, with potential for 1:5
-
12-hour rotating shifts covering days and nights (7:00-19:30 or 19:00-7:30)
-
Shift assignments reviewed every 4-week scheduling period based on staffing needs
-
Variable weekend requirements based on unit needs
-
Uses Epic for computerized charting
-
Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of submission
-
Minimum 2 years overall nursing experience required
-
Minimum 1 year inpatient hematology-oncology experience required, current within the last 12 months
-
Acute care experience must be current and in the specialty being applied for

Prior travel nursing experience required from an inpatient unit setting
-
BLS, ACLS, and ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy certification required
-
NIHSS certification preferred
-
Epic charting experience required
-
Skilled in IV therapy/infusions, port access and management, central line and PICC line care, and blood product administration
-
Experience with chemotherapy administration, monitoring, and body fluid handling post-chemotherapy
-
Knowledge of oncologic emergencies including tumor lysis syndrome and sepsis
-
Experience caring for patients with leukemia/blood dyscrasias and lymphoma required; multiple myeloma experience preferred
-
Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
-
Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager/director or supervisor; charge RN acceptable as second reference; coworker references not accepted

Strong focus on infection prevention protocols and patient fall prevention
-
Interpret dysrhythmias and utilize telemetry monitoring and Rapid Response Teams as needed
-
Manage feeding tubes, IV therapy, phlebotomy, and peripheral/central/PICC line care
-
Recognize and communicate abnormal lab values
-
First-time travelers will not be considered for this position

Former employees eligible for travel assignment after being away from the facility for 6 months or more

Current employees are ineligible to be hired as travelers at this health system

Local candidates accepted at the same rate

RTO must be submitted with application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less

Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting requirements promptly upon contract signing due to strict compliance deadlines
