Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Material Handler/Crane Operator to join our fast-paced team. In this vital role, your main role will be unloading roll-off containers and sorting scrap metal with a crane. Responsibilities
- Load and unload shipments using a material handler or crane and can also include forklift use and skid steer use as well.
- Perform manual handling tasks including heavy lifting and materials handling to meet daily operational needs
- Maintain safety standards by adhering to OSHA regulations and utilizing proper lifting techniques during manual handling
- Assist in shipping and receiving activities, verifying incoming and outgoing shipments for accuracy
- Collaborate with warehouse supervisors to organize storage areas, optimize space utilization, and ensure inventory accuracy
Qualifications
- Proven experience in sorting of scrap steel inbound and outbound loads.
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS), RF scanners, and order picking procedures
- Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and mechanical principles related to warehouse equipment operation
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Construction or industrial experience is a plus; mechanical knowledge is advantageous
- Prior experience in shipping & receiving or materials handling roles preferred
- Strong attention to detail with excellent manual handling skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
