Marubeni-Itochu Steel America (MISA) is part of a global team trading in a wide range of steel products. The MISA Sales team is currently seeking an experienced Sales Manager for our Cincinnati, Ohio or Nashville, Tennessee office.
This position is responsible for developing sales, securing new customers and driving revenue growth through the sale of steel pipe and tubing products used in residential, commercial, industrial, and product applications in other industries in the following territories: Mainly Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, West Virginia, Virginia, Kentucky and Tennessee. This role focuses on new business development, account growth, and strengthening market presence within assigned territories while maintaining and focusing on building strong customer relationships across targeted industries.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and execute sales strategies to grow revenue and expand market share for steel pipe and tubing products.
- Market various products/commodities/services to customers and develop and maintain good relationships with customers.
- Prepare and present quotations, proposals, and contracts aligned with customer requirements and company objectives.
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and agreements to achieve sales and margin goals.
- Build strong, long-term relationships with customers by understanding their technical needs, project requirements, and purchasing cycles.
- Responsible for all purchasing/sales/customer service functions for assigned customers (fence manufacturers, distributors, fabricators, contractors, OEMs and security system integrators) and maximize potential sales and profitability of the business by negotiating price, marketing products, identifying customer needs and soliciting new business.
- Collaborate with internal teams (operations, manufacturing, logistics, and customer service) to ensure customer satisfaction and timely order fulfillment.
- Collaborates with branch/division management in planning sales strategy of branch to exceed financial/budgetary, sales, revenue and performance metrics.
- Review reports to monitor sales performance, pipeline activity, market development and report analysis. Reports on sales activities to branch/division management as needed.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer feedback to identify new opportunities and risks.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customers and resolve distribution/logistics issues to fulfill legal requirements and customer's requests. Reviews sales contracts and other related documents consistently to ensure compliance with laws and import/export regulations.
- Investigate and resolve customer complaints regarding quality, tolerances, specifications, and delivered condition of products. Coordinates and attends rejected material inspections documenting reasons given for rejections. Validates condition of material and determines best disposition to minimize losses either by re-sales and/or collection from insurance
- Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
10+ years of B2B sales experience in steel pipe or tubing products, including demonstrated depth of hands-on expertise in the galvanized pipe segment (e.g., product specifications, coatings, applications, and customer requirements). Knowledge of fencing, perimeter security, gate, barrier and metal markets and sourcing. Understanding of manufacturing and supply chain processes. Strong communication, interpersonal, negotiation and presentation skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools. Organizational and multi-tasking skills to effectively handle several projects and customers at once. Results-driven and self-motivated. Strong technical and consultative selling skills. Customer-focused mindset. Strategic thinking and problem-solving. Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's/Master's degree and 10 plus years' experience

Req Benefits:
Hourly rate or annual base salary determined by experience and work location.
Non-exempt roles are required to receive time-and-one-half overtime for time worked in excess of 40 hours in a calendar week. Any time worked between 35 hours and less than 40 hours in a work week will be compensated at straight time (the current hourly rate) unless otherwise required by applicable law.
