Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Temporary Turn Technician to join our Student Housing Community maintenance team. This role is vital in ensuring the seamless turnover of residential units, maintaining high standards of safety, comfort, and functionality for our residents. As a Turn Technician, you will be responsible for executing a variety of maintenance and repair tasks efficiently, supporting the overall upkeep of the community’s facilities. Duties
- Perform comprehensive maintenance, repair, and renovation work on residential units during turnover periods, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry tasks
- Conduct electrical equipment repairs and troubleshoot issues using schematics and testing tools such as ohmmeters
- Operate programmable logic controllers (PLCs) for building automation systems and oversee HVAC system repairs to ensure optimal climate control
- Execute residential painting, drywall repairs, and other cosmetic improvements to prepare units for new residents
- Maintain accurate records of work performed using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and update maintenance logs regularly
- Supervise and coordinate with team members or contractors to ensure timely completion of turnover projects
- Adhere to safety protocols related to welding, electrical work, plumbing, and mechanical repairs while maintaining a safe working environment
Requirements
- Proven experience with facilities maintenance, including plumbing system maintenance and repair, electrical equipment repair, and HVAC system troubleshooting
- Strong mechanical knowledge complemented by experience with schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals
- Skilled in welding techniques and familiar with manufacturing or industrial repair processes
- Knowledge of CMMS software for work order management and documentation
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings effectively
- Experience supervising or leading small teams in maintenance or facilities settings is preferred
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly in English both verbally and in writing
- Proficiency with testing tools such as ohmmeters and familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs)
- Demonstrated ability to perform residential painting and general handyman tasks efficiently
- Valid experience with maintenance operations within student housing or similar residential communities is a plus
