American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a mixed ICU position in Rapid City, SD, requiring at least 1.5–2 years of ICU experience, Epic proficiency, and TNCC certification.

Mixed ICU unit encompassing MICU, SICU, CICU, and TICU across 39 beds
-
Complex ICU patient population including surgical, medical, cardiac, neuro, and trauma cases; diagnoses include ARDS, MI, CVA/TIA, COVID, post-cardiac cath, post-surgical, and multi-system trauma

Cardiac experience preferred, particularly CABG/TAVR 24–48 hours post-op

Patient ratios are acuity-dependent: 1:1, 1:2, or occasionally 1:3

Charting via Epic (required); Alaris pumps (transitioning to Baxter by October); Omnicell
-
12-hour night shifts at 48 hours per week
-
Every other weekend rotation
-
No on-call responsibilities
-
Floating is uncommon but possible to adult floors including Med/Surg and Tele at a 1:4 ratio when overstaffed

Active RN license — SD license or compact license with SD privileges required

Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and TNCC (must be obtained prior to start)

Minimum 1.5–2 years of ICU experience excluding travel assignments (candidates with 1.5 years of ICU experience plus significant non-ICU RN experience may be considered)

Epic EMR experience required

Proficiency with IV medications including vasopressors, sedation, and paralytics
-
Experience with hemodynamic lines, ventilator management, proning, and telemetry
-
Experience with Impella, IABP, and CRRT strongly preferred

Two professional references dated within the past year required for consideration

DOB and SSN required for consideration

First-time travelers are not eligible; a minimum of one prior travel assignment is required
-
Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from any Monument Health facility to be eligible
-
Former permanent staff must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
-
Orientation includes a hospital orientation, one 12-hour ICU shift, and one 8-hour ICU shift
-
Unit support includes CNAs, charge RNs overseeing all ICUs, a resource nurse (staffing dependent), 24/7 respiratory therapy, phlebotomy for peripheral draws, and robust physician/APP coverage
-
No RTO is permitted during holidays or the Sturgis Bike Rally (first 3 weeks of August)

Up to 7 days of RTO may be approved; extensions may be required to accommodate the full 13-week contract

Navy scrubs required
