Duties
- Prepare and serve balanced, kid-friendly meals and snacks in accordance with approved menus and dietary guidelines
- Plan menus that incorporate diverse flavors and textures, ensuring nutritional adequacy and variety for young children
- Follow strict food safety protocols, including sanitizing kitchen surfaces, proper food handling, and storage procedures to prevent contamination
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including ovens, mixers, blenders, and food prep tools
- Assist with food production tasks such as poaching, braising, grilling, and other cooking techniques to create appealing dishes
- Maintain accurate records of food inventory, meal counts, and dietary restrictions or allergies
- Support dietary department standards by adhering to recipe specifications and portion control guidelines
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a dietary aide or in a food service role within a childcare or educational setting preferred
- Strong knowledge of food safety management practices and sanitizing procedures
- Proven skills in food preparation techniques such as poaching, braising, grilling, and general cooking methods
- Experience operating commercial kitchen equipment safely and effectively
- Familiarity with menu planning and recipe adherence for high-volume production environments
- Background in food industry roles such as restaurant or catering experience is highly desirable
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety
