Yard Hand Job Description
We are seeking a reliable, hardworking, and safety-conscious Yard Hand to join our team. In this role, you will be the backbone of our daily operations, ensuring the yard remains clean, organized, and safe. You will work alongside heavy equipment operators, service technicians, and boat owners to safely haul, block, launch, and maintain vessels to include pressure washing and detailing boats.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with launching and retrieving boats from dock
- Move boats into and out of the shop for service work
- Maintain cleanliness of grounds and facility
- Assist with organizing the boats in the Showroom
- Serve as a ground spotter to safely guide heavy forklift operators
- Washing and waxing the exterior of boats
- Follows all safety precautions and procedures at all times
- Receives storage boats from service department
- Organize all boats neatly with consciousness to yard space
- Map location of all storage boats
- Safely position heavy wood blocks and adjustable jackstands to secure vessels
- Report any damage or problems to service manager in writing
- Reports all low inventory or shortages of materials as needed
- Ensures that no damage is done to boat during handling
- Covers all boats (shrink wrap storage boats as necessary)
- Post-storage prep for all storage boats
- Assist with the pick up and delivery of Boats
- Reports to service manager when service needs are identified
- Ensures all equipment is in good working condition at all times
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Experience launching and loading boats a plus
- Experience operating heavy machinery a plus but not required
- Previous marina experience a plus
- Ability to multitask and handle high stress situations
- Ability to work flexible hours and work around a changing schedule
- Must be able to meet the physical demands of the job
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds unassisted
- Be team-oriented, self-motivated, and process driven
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Strong attendance record and punctuality
- Must have valid drivers license and reliable transportation
Compensation
- An hourly pay rate of $22 - $26

Schedule
- Monday - Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM
- Overtime is available during Spring Launch and Fall Haul Out Season
- Weekend availability during Spring Launch and Fall Haul Out Season
- Location Headquarters - 2200 US 9 Lake George NY 12845
- Some Driving to Other Locations Weekly
Pay: $22.00 - $26.00 per hour
