Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive and skilled Data Center Technician to join our team as a freelance, self-employed, or contractor professional. In this dynamic role, you will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing data center infrastructure to ensure seamless operations. Your expertise will support the deployment and management of virtualized environments, cloud integrations, and IT systems across diverse platforms. Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain hardware components such as servers, storage devices, and network equipment within data centers
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues related to virtualization platforms like VMware and Hyper-V
- Manage and optimize IT infrastructure including operating systems (Windows, Linux), databases (SQL, Oracle), and cloud services (AWS, Azure)
- Implement security protocols such as VPNs and firewall configurations to safeguard data integrity
- Automate routine tasks using scripting languages like Bash, Shell Scripting, Python, or Java to improve efficiency
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams using Agile methodologies to support system development lifecycle (SDLC) processes
- Maintain detailed documentation of configurations, procedures, and incident reports for audit and compliance purposes
Requirements
- Proven experience working with IT infrastructure components in a data center environment
- Strong knowledge of virtualization technologies including VMware and other hypervisors
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure, along with API integration skills
- Proficiency in operating systems including Windows and Linux/UNIX environments
- Experience with scripting languages like Bash, Python, or Shell Scripting for automation tasks
- Understanding of network security practices involving VPNs and firewalls
- Ability to troubleshoot hardware/software issues efficiently under pressure
- Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools for continuous integration/deployment pipelines
- Background in computer science or related fields is preferred but not mandatory; relevant certifications are a plus
