JOB TITLE: Senior Commissioning Agent – Commercial HVAC

We are seeking an experienced HVAC Commissioning Agent to lead the verification and optimization of complex energy systems. You will serve as the primary technical lead, ensuring that HVAC and control systems are installed, tested, and performing according to design intent and owner requirements.
In this role, you will work on cutting-edge decarbonization projects, district energy systems, and large-scale industrial renovations. You will be responsible for validating sequences of operation, performing functional performance testing, and delivering high-performance outcomes for clients.
The ideal candidate is strategic, self-driven, success-oriented, and possesses strong project management and communication skills.
Some travel is required. Candidates based in Colorado and Washington are encouraged to apply.
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform iterative and feasibility analyses of upgrade options focused on energy efficiency, infrastructure improvements, electrification, decarbonization, constructability, life cycle cost analysis, and other owner objectives.
- Develop baseline energy models using eQUEST, spreadsheets, and similar tools to support decarbonization goals.
- Prepare commissioning documentation, including commissioning plans, pre-functional checklists, and functional performance tests.
- Identify project-specific requirements based on owner goals and priorities.
- Transition projects to the Construction Manager for implementation.
- Perform onsite inspections and functional testing to verify HVAC system performance and validate sequences of operation.
- Review construction drawings, submittals, and engineering specifications to ensure commissioning objectives are met while tracking and resolving technical issues.
- Develop final commissioning reports and systems manuals for owners.
Additional Responsibilities
- Lead onsite inspections, functional testing, and quality assurance activities.
- Oversee equipment startup and commissioning checkout procedures.
- Direct TAB verification processes.
- Conduct comprehensive design reviews for technical compliance.
- Collaborate with the design team to define and review Sequences of Operational Intent (SOI).
- Serve as a subject matter expert and mentor for other Commissioning Agents.
- Drive continuous process improvements within the Commissioning department.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Extensive expertise in HVAC systems, including installation, service, controls integration, and programming.
- Ability to independently manage and execute projects of varying complexity.
- Proven experience mentoring and supervising junior Commissioning Agents.
- Proficiency in interpreting complex construction drawings and engineering specifications.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills
- 7+ years of experience as an HVAC Commissioning Agent.
- Strategic problem-solving mindset with the ability to develop innovative solutions.
- Familiarity with the construction process.
- Experience building and maintaining client relationships.

Pay: $130,000.00 - $165,000.00 per year
