Position Summary:
St. Vincent Ferrer High School seeks an enthusiastic, organized, and student-centered Assistant Varsity Soccer Coach to help continue building our all-girls soccer program. This is an exciting opportunity to mentor young women, contribute to a positive team culture, and support the long-term vision of a growing program.
The Assistant Coach will work collaboratively with the Head Coach and Athletic Director to support the program's day-to-day operations, competitive success, and student-athlete development. The successful candidate should be a dependable, collaborative coach who is eager to teach, mentor, and positively impact the student-athlete experience.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to strengthen traditions, support program development, and help build a sustainable culture of excellence while working alongside dedicated coaches and school leadership.
Season Commitment:
- Mid-August through late October (including playoffs, if applicable)
- 2-3 practices per week (typically 1.5-2.5 hours depending on facility availability)
- Approximately 17 regular season contests, with additional postseason opportunities as applicable.
- Coaches should anticipate approximately 4-5 hours of commitment on game days, including travel and supervision
- Optional paid summer clinics and offseason programming opportunities may be available.
- Candidates should be available for afternoon and evening practices and competitions throughout the season and should consistently demonstrate reliability in meeting scheduled commitments.
Practice & Competition Locations:Practices and competitions may be held at the following locations or other approved New York City facilities based on permit availability:
- Thomas Jefferson Park
- Marx Brothers Playground
- Randall's Island (games)
- Other approved New York City facilities, as needed
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Player Development:
- Assist in planning and leading organized, engaging practices focused on technical, tactical, physical, and mental development.
- Foster an inclusive environment where athletes of all skill levels can succeed.
- Reinforce a team culture centered on accountability, discipline, sportsmanship, resilience, and confidence.
- Mentor student-athletes and promote leadership on and off the field.
Competition:
- Assist with preparation for regular season and postseason contests.
- Support game planning, substitutions, and in-game adjustments in collaboration with the Head Coach.
- Supervise student-athletes before, during, and after all team activities.
Program Administration:
- Assist with attendance, communication records, equipment distribution, and uniform collection.
- Support scheduling, transportation, and logistical needs as directed by the Head Coach and Athletic Director.
- Complete assigned documentation and administrative responsibilities accurately and in a timely manner.
Communication:
- Maintain professional communication with student-athletes, families, officials, and school personnel.
- Respond promptly to Athletic Department and coaching staff communications.
- Utilize Google Workspace (Calendar, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Forms, etc.) to support program operations.
Program Growth:
- Support recruitment, retention, and long-term program growth.
- Assist with fundraising initiatives and community engagement.
- Contribute ideas that enhance the student-athlete experience and strengthen the program.
Professional Expectations:
- Attend required preseason and postseason league meetings, as requested.
- Attend Athletic Department meetings.
- Attend the annual Athletics Banquet in May.
- Model professionalism, integrity, reliability, and positive leadership at all times.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior soccer coaching and/or competitive playing experience preferred.
- Experience coaching high school or club athletes preferred.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace or willingness to learn.
- Strong leadership and relationship-building abilities.
- Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a coaching team.
- CPR, AED, and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
Compensation:
- Seasonal Stipend: Starting at $3,000, with final compensation determined based on coaching experience, qualifications, certifications, and program needs. Additional compensation opportunities may be available through approved clinics and offseason programming.
