Job Overview
We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Technical Product Lead to drive the development and management of innovative technology solutions. In this pivotal role, you will lead cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality products that meet business needs and enhance user experiences. Your expertise in product management, software development, and IT infrastructure will be instrumental in shaping our technology roadmap. This position offers a dynamic environment where leadership, communication skills, and technical acumen come together to create impactful solutions that propel our organization forward.
This role is designed for a highly autonomous operator: someone who can define the technical roadmap, drive vendor evaluations, write requirements, manage external development partners, and present decisions to executive stakeholders — without requiring day-to-day direction. The Technical Product Lead functions as the IT team's proxy in technical and cross-functional conversations, and is expected to reduce organizational dependency on any single person for delivery execution.
Responsibilities
Product & Portfolio Ownership
- Own the end-to-end delivery of assigned roadmap initiatives from requirements through deployment and post-implementation review.
- Maintain initiative scope, milestones, and status across the 2026 Technology Roadmap, keeping portfolio board current and accurate.
- Evaluate build vs. buy decisions on technology features (i.e. scheduling, payments, marketplace, Rent Rewards, etc.) and present structured recommendations to IT Lead and ELT.
- Write product specifications, technical requirements documents, and vendor RFPs independently.
- Manage the product backlog and output updates.
Technical Execution
- Lead or directly contribute to salonlofts.com, portal, loft owner app and client app, including product feature decisioning, service design and deployment pipeline improvements.
- Own product feature upgrades, phase-outs and onboarding.
- Build and maintain integrations between the custom applications and third-party systems including examples such as HubSpot, RentManager, Dynamics CRM, DocuSign, and Corrigo.
- Establish and enforce technical standards, documentation practices, and DevOps pipeline quality for product development.
- Size and scope development work for budget conversations and contractor engagements.
Stakeholder & Vendor Management
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact for business stakeholders (Marketing, Sales, Customer Success, Loft Owner Success) on product questions and requests.
- Manage external development vendors and contractors: define scope, review deliverables, and ensure quality without requiring IT Lead involvement in day-to-day interactions.
- Participate in ELT technology governance sessions, presenting initiative status, risks, and recommendations clearly to non-technical audiences.
Architecture & Standards
- Drive the transition from monolithic product architecture to micro-services/API-first delivery model.
- Evaluate and recommend new solutions, such headless CMS solutions, app store deployment strategy, and brand consolidation approach.
- Maintain technical documentation and architecture diagrams for the Salon Lofts digital product ecosystem.
Preferred Education / Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field; equivalent experience accepted.
- 6–10 years of experience in software engineering, technical product management, or a combination of both.
- Large portfolio project management experience; Multiple vendor and internal/external sourced initiative management; Workload balancing, recalibration, proper scoping and expectation setting experience needed.
- Experience managing AWS infrastructure (EC2, RDS, Lambda, CloudFront, ALB) and CI/CD pipelines.
- Proven track record owning a product or platform end-to-end — not just executing tickets.
- Experience writing product specifications and requirements documents that developers and vendors can act on independently.
- Hands-on experience integrating with third-party APIs (HubSpot, DocuSign, payment processors, or similar SaaS platforms).
- Experience in multi-brand, multi-location, or franchised business environments preferred.
- Familiarity with GCP, BigQuery, or data pipeline tooling is a plus.
- Experience presenting technical options and recommendations to VP/C-level stakeholders.
Skills & Abilities
- Exceptionally self-directed; comfortable operating with significant autonomy and minimal daily oversight.
- Strong written communication skills — can produce clear, concise technical and non-technical documentation.
- Confident presenting to executive stakeholders without requiring preparation support.
- Systems-thinker; sees how individual technical decisions affect the broader product and business ecosystem.
- Comfortable with ambiguity; able to define the path forward when requirements are incomplete.
- High accountability for outcomes, not just activities.
- Positive, collaborative approach to working across departments and with external vendors.
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent initiatives without losing momentum on any of them.
- Proven ability to identify and mitigate technical risk before it becomes a production issue.
- Excellent project management skills; able to set priorities, meet deadlines, and manage concurrent work streams.
